Does your dog come when called? How about walk politely beside you and stay close to you when you make a turn? And does your dog wait at the front door or maybe bolt through any open door? Basic Obedience and Manners is the place to start with training. So, your doggie knows the basics, then you’re ready for some more advanced classes. We offer several formats for you and your dog to get the training needed. And our tuition fees are extremely competitive!

Basic Obedience/Manners I – This is the starting point for dogs that have not been in training class before. Designed to help dogs with life skills and to strengthen the bond with their owner. If your dog could use a little better manners and some basic obedience, this class is for you. Topics include: sit, stand, down, walking politely, stay, come, leave it, jumping up on people, waiting to go thru doors and much more. Typically include the agility tunnel in the last session.
Basic Obedience/Manners II – An extension of Level I to add more precision, distance and duration of topics covered in Level I. Prerequisite: Basic Obedience/Manners I or instructor approval.
Sampler Package – This is a fun class to try several dog activities in 1 term. It’s an introduction to Tricks, Rally Obedience, Agility and Musical Freestyle. Prerequisite: Basic Obedience/Manners I or instructor approval.
Tricks – If you want some cute parlor tricks, this is your class. We welcome ambitious folks too who want to teach more complex tricks. Or perhaps you’re curious how to teach a dog to perform a natural behavior, like a sneeze or a paw movement, on command. Prerequisite: Basic Obedience/Manners I or instructor approval.
Rally Obedience – This is a form of obedience offered at ACK shows but it’s also fun just to practice in a group setting too. All levels welcome. Prerequisite: Basic Obedience/Manners I or instructor approval.
Puppy Kindergarten – Get your puppy started off right with a training class. Topics include puppy socialization, manners, basic obedience, confidence building and a variety of other puppy issues. For puppies 8 weeks to 4 months old when class starts.
Canine Musical Freestyle – Get started in this growing new sport! Learn the frequently used moves and develop your own. Learn how to transition from one move to another. Practice with music. And maybe even prepare for competition. Prerequisite: Basic Obedience/Manners I or instructor approval.
Note: Not all classes are offered every term.
For safety of all of our guests, doggies attending for training must:
Be up-to-date on vaccinations, including bordetella
Be on flea and worm preventative programs
Meet with a Canine Corral staff member for an introduction and tour of the facility
Provide veterinarian statement to verify vaccinations are current
Complete an Application and a Services Agreement
Enroll in a class or schedule private lessons, ala carte or Stay-N-Train dates
What to bring to training class or private lesson:
Any paperwork required for enrollment not yet given to Canine Corral
Basic Manners/Obedience I – the first session is orientation – do not bring dog
All other classes and private lessons, bring dog, treats & clicker (optional)
